Legions of Noodle-Making Robots in China

We all know that China has the biggest population in the world and with this abundant overflow of human resources, I think that the labour cost should be cheap. But in my research, it turn out the opposite. So, to face the rising cost of labour, one of the Chinese restaurateur, Cui Runguan, invent and decide to sell robots that capable of slicing noodles that he called “Chef Cui”.

Runguan sells those robots at $2000 each, he is certainly sure that it will replaced chef in many restaurants as it cost $2700 more on hiring a chef a year and the robot can perform noodles slicing better than human chefs. Want to know more on how the robots in action, check out the video of the robot army below!

After you watch the video, do you noticed that the robots’ eyes are glowing? Why? and they do have bad expression, I really wonder why, is it reflect a real human chef expression?. I think Chef Runguan should reconsider the design of his next generation robot.

But aside of all of these, what would happen to employment?, Is this robot killing people jobs?. Well, from my perspective is NO. This invention will decrease the price of food as the cost to produce is reduced. Restaurant owners in general have incentive to expand their business which in the end need to hire employee. Then, in general people have more income to spent on the economy and boost the country GDP. So, what’s your opinion about this robot?.
